In 2002 The Youth Campus established Kid Power, a program to serve children and teens suffering serious illnesses and their families. The board of directors supported this focus as another way to serve children in need, the mission of The Youth Campus.
From 2002 to 2008 hundreds of volunteers guided by a small staff worked directly with children and teens, primarily in the hospitals. The children and families who received this support and tremendous devotion found their lives improved. The volunteers and generous donors supporting them gave selflessly of their time and resources. The tremendous impact on families has been apparent.
On February 29, 2008 the Kid Power program suspended operations. The board of directors has determined that this program, the only TYC program funded 100% by donations is not currently sustainable. The touching example of service through Kid Power will be missed.
